The 13-Year Story

How thirteen years of relentless optical refinement turned a small precision laboratory into an internationally respected lighting manufacturer.

Prologue: The Standard We Refused to Lower

In 2013, the commercial lighting market in southern China was engaged in a fierce price war. Factory after factory slashed material gauges, accepted noticeable color bin drift, and pushed cheap drivers that flickered under high shutter speeds.

Rocky Wong took a diametrically opposed view: the future of architectural illumination belonged not to the cheapest plastic shells, but to optical instruments crafted with aerospace tolerances. Encore Tech was founded on a simple promise: if we cannot build a fixture that we would proudly install in a national museum, we will not build it at all.

"Building a hardware brand is not a sprint across sunny fields. It is a thirteen-year marathon across changing geopolitical terrains, supply shortages, and technical bottlenecks. You survive not by being clever, but by being stubbornly honest with your specifications."

Chapter 1: The First Principles of Optics (2013–2017)

The early years were defined by cleanroom experimentation. While competitors purchased off-the-shelf reflectors, Rocky invested early capital into custom TIR (Total Internal Reflection) lenses, diamond-turned molds, and secondary optical collimators.

The company’s breakthrough came when architectural clients in Hong Kong discovered that Encore’s downlights delivered an ultra-sharp cut-off angle with Unified Glare Rating (UGR) below 10. The fixtures effectively "vanished" into ceilings, leaving only museum-grade pools of light.

Chapter 2: Global Expansion & Hong Kong Fair (2018–2021)

At the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Booth 3E-B01), Encore Tech caught the attention of European specification consultants and luxury retail developers. Rocky traveled across Frankfurt, Milan, and North America, directly listening to lighting designers who were dissatisfied with established conglomerate suppliers whose delivery lead times spanned six months.

By maintaining agile modular manufacturing and vertical integration over aluminum die-casting and precision driver assembly, Encore Tech delivered bespoke photometric solutions in weeks rather than quarters.

"When European clients visit our facilities, they don't look at our sales pitch. They inspect our goniophotometer test reports, our spectrophotometers, and our salt-spray testing chambers. In engineering, data is the only universal language."

Chapter 3: Red Sea, Dubai, and Global Agility (2022–2024)

When global logistics experienced historic supply chain friction, Rocky personally led on-the-ground business missions to Dubai, Riyadh, and regional trade hubs. Observing the explosive growth of high-end hospitality and civic landmarks in the Gulf, Encore engineered high-temperature-rated luminaires capable of continuous operation in desert climates exceeding 50°C.

Chapter 4: The 2026 Milestone & Beyond

In July 2026, delivering the keynote address at Weiming Academy, Rocky reflected on the journey: 13 years of persistence, an 11-kilogram personal health transformation, hundreds of completed commercial projects, and a renewed commitment to classical art and intellectual rigor.

As lighting enters the era of human-centric circadian biology and intelligent networked sensors, Encore Tech remains anchored to its core origin: precision in engineering, honesty in materials, and reverence for light.
